Grey Havens Philosophy is no longer in operation
January 13, 2026
Dear Members of the Grey Havens Community,
It has been a joy to build this community of inquiry with you over the years. We hope you know how much each and every one of you have inspired the board members, staff, and volunteers of our organization. We thank you for your willingness to engage in deep, philosophical conversations with people of all ages and backgrounds. You are what makes Grey Havens special. You are Grey Havens.
After careful consideration, the Board has decided to begin the legal process of dissolving the organization. This means that by the end of March of this year, Grey Havens Philosophy (formally Grey Havens Group, Inc.) will no longer exist as a registered, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Because of you, Grey Havens has accomplished so many awesome things as a nonprofit in the last 10 years. We celebrate that, and we are so thankful for all that we have been able to achieve. However, we also have to acknowledge that we are not able to be the organization that we once were, and that is okay. The journey does not end here, but this chapter has come to a close. Your part in this tale will go on, and we can't wait to see how you take Grey Havens with you. Members of Grey Havens will continue to meet as community-led discussion groups for the foreseeable future, and you are welcome to be part of these meetings.
We hope that you will join us for a final celebration on Saturday, February 7th at SandΨ's Coffee and Tea in Longmont from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Drinks and light snacks will be provided. All are welcome as we reflect upon and celebrate our time together. Capacity is limited, so please RSVP here or send an email to info@greyhavensgroup.org if you know that you will be attending. If you have any other thoughts or questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
With much love and appreciation,
The Grey Havens Philosophy Board of Directors
Thinking together makes our community better!
Philosophical thinking helps us grow and find connection
What We Do
-

Kids
We host virtual meetings for kids ages 5 - 15. Books & Big Ideas and Harry Potter for Kids & Teens. We discuss books, write fan fiction, and play games - all while thinking deeply about big ideas.
-

Young Adults
Grey Havens YA hosts monthly meetings for kids 10 - 18. We talk about books and films, play thinking games, and do creative activities that inspire us to think philosophically.
-

Adults
We have ongoing intergenerational discussion groups centered around pop culture (Longmont Senior Center) and Star Trek (location tbd).
Upcoming Events
Grey Havens Philosophy is no longer hosting official events. As of February 2026, our community members were continuing monthly Lord of the Rings and Star Trek discussions at the locations and times below. We cannot guarantee that these meetings are still taking place or are at the same place/time.
“Being a geek is not about what you love
but how you love it.”
We developed a practice we call “Geek Philosophy.”
We explore the big ideas inspired by our favorite
books, shows, movies, and songs from pop culture!
